Characteristics of Time
Published on February 25, 2005 By KelleyMM In Blogging
Time is irreplaceable. Time can be your worst enemy or time can be your best friend. You can never change the past, instead you have to look forward to the future. Time management can be detrimental in creating a successful life and time management is a problem I have faced my whole life. In the back of my head I remind myself that some of the activities I choose to do are not important, but that feeling gets subsided in order to make sure I have a good time. Then I am faced with the consequences that come with that decision. After I filled out my time sheet I took a look at it to see what I had actually done in the span of twenty four hours. The result? Absolutely nothing. Granted it was a Thursday night and I wasn't feeling above average but the hours I sat and wasted was ungodly.
To tell you the truth it didn't really hit me until class on Wednesday when you displayed the average of people's activities. While you were lecturing I kept thinking to myself; "Wow, I really wasted one full day". One full day I will never get back. In order to attempt to stay organized I write myself 'things to do' lists and while that does help me stay on track I don't think I have ever crossed off every single task written down. What I realize now is that I put too many tasks on the list. I add in low importance, high importance, high urgency and even low urgency. You name it, I've got it on there. So now I am writing this Blog on a Friday night at eleven o'clock trying to accomplish tasks that are important to me and it is one of the hardest assignments I have ever had to do. I am not saying that I will never party or be lazy again because that would never happen. What I do realize is that sometimes I need to ask myself what decision will be more important for me in the long run and not at the current time.
