Goals, Inspirations and Cohesiveness

Today we discussed the issue of cohesiveness and the first test of the leader. What I believe is one of the most important aspects of a successful group is cohesiveness and implimenting that as a leader is very important. From the very start of this class in all of my leadership analysis, including my first independent memo, I have stated that creating a goal for the group to accomplish is most important. Otherwise, what other reason would the group have to work towards? Another great lesson I learned today was about inspiration. Many leaders forget what gave them the reason to lead. I love to be inspired and I can become very passionate about ideas, beliefs or causes. A great example was the Jerry Maguire video clip because it showed that someone who has been so caught up in money and power was able to snap back to reality. He was able to realize that he was not in it for the reasons he first entered his profession with. The ablity to stay connected to the inspiration that first gave you the vision of what you wanted to do is a very hard to keep up with. Not everybody gets their dream job and not everybody is given reasons to stay inspired by everyday events. So by facing that problem in class and learning how to keep up our passions we can apply them for opporotunties in the future. I would also like to add that I did take notice how the computer was prepared for class and that you worked hard to improve the lecture. Congratulations, you are becoming an excellent Professor!
